The Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation Cup
On Friday, 10 November 2023, the first Foundation Cup of the 21st Century took place in Wassenaar, reviving an old tradition cherished by many from years past. Originally set to unfold under the open skies on the fields of Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest, an unyielding spell of rainfall prompted a last-minute relocation to the welcoming gyms of Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar. This event underscored the collaborative spirit of the Rijnlands international schools, which, while upholding their shared values, collectively strive to offer a world-class education for all of our students. The Foundation Cup became a vivid illustration of Rijnlands’ commitment to building bridges through various avenues, such as sport.
The tournament showcased mixed U12 and U14 football teams from the European School of The Hague, Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest/International School Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest, Rijnlands Lyceum Sassenheim, and Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar/International School Wassenaar, reflecting the diverse tapestry of nationalities, cultures, and languages within our foundation. Such diversity added layers of meaning to the competition, making the collaboration between the various schools even more meaningful.
